Use of flat type cartridges during tattooing

Flat needles allow precise shading because they are easy to position at the right angle. Flats can also be used for contouring, as their shape allows more ink to be delivered to the skin with each stroke. This means clearer, darker lines with a single stroke. Larger configurations of flats can be used for color filling and shading, as they dab a lot more ink in just one pass. Flat needles, or flats, are good for intricate shading, such as in geometric patterns and works such as mandalas.
